I have worked for many of the FTSE 100 companies over the past twenty-seven years, developing both complex and large scale solutions.
A few examples of my clients are:
B.N.F Fulmer
My X-Ray diffractometer and spectrometer software was created to automatically control the spectrometer hardware, perform the analysis and display graphical output for systems to analyse materials at the atomic level. Designed and developed by me and then sold to both Philips and Siemens. The software ran on both PDP-11 and DEC-VAX and was written in a combination of (orthogonal instruction set) Assembly Language, Fortran 77.
N.E.R.C (Natural Environmental Research Council)
Working with Dr Duncan Reed and Dr David Boreman I created one of the first pieces of software to be based on the Flood Studies Report of 1975 for predicting and modelling floods in the UK.
R.I.B.A (Royal Institute of British Architects)
I created a full screen editor allowing for the entry of special characters for their library. The system ran on a Prime computer and was one of the first full screen editors available in 1981.
R.A.ENG (Royal Academy of Engineering)
I created a full Intra-net system for the academies fellows and staff members. The secure system handled password generation and administration. Various levels of permission allow read access to different areas, users uploads of various document types, and advanced search capabilities.
Xegis
I developed all of the software this mobile content repository uses, from a huge content management system based on XML with over half a million items of content, to the Pan-European mobile content delivery mechanism catering for up to a thousand type of mobile handset. I also created a multitude of communication interfaces, administration and marketing tools.
Pauline Whittaker Dog Training School
For this fun project I developed some exemplar code in classic ASP to show what can be done for a small website.

I have strong commercial experience of coordinating and managing both internal and external project teams, to deliver effective IT solutions. I have an open and autonomous management style and a genuine desire to set the standard in e-commerce sales channels.
As a software developer for over
twenty-eight years I have remained very much in touch with and enjoy greatly hands on code development. To this end I have stayed abreast of new technology, currently designing, coding and implementing large scale commercial applications utilising combinations of
ASP.NET,
VB.NET,
T-SQL on
SQL-Server 2000/2005, with
AJAX (Java-Script based) and
.NET Framework 1/2.0/2.5/3.5 based SOAP Compliant web services, Using
Visual Studio 2005/2008. I also specialise in database tuning, three tier architectures, CMS, search engines and mobile applications.
I am always interested in either contract or permanent roles in software consultancy, pre-sales and development, but they must represent a challenge.
